Small Talk at Re.Imagine Gallery: Three Birds, One Sky (and Live Guitar)

Small Talk: A Visual Conversation opening reception graphic, Re.Imagine Gallery, Nov 22, 2026

Some paintings show up quietly. These three arrived with opinions.

A heron who unperturbed by anything. A hummingbird showing us there’s really nowhere better than being here now.  And an owl who’s waking the night. Together they’re my One Sky collection, and they’re heading to Small Talk: A Visual Conversation, the new exhibition at Re.Imagine Gallery in Fairview.

What’s Small Talk?

It’s a show of small works by local artists in all kinds of media, and the name fits. Small pieces, big conversations. Come see for yourself!

Opening reception: Sunday, November 22, 2026, 1–5 PM

Live music: Christopher Cisneros, original guitar compositions, 3–4 PM

Where: Re.Imagine Gallery, 15 Spivey Lake Drive, Fairview, NC

On view: Through February 5, 2027

Meet the birds

All three are collage paintings on 11×14 birchwood panel: layers of hand-painted and printed papers, cut and pieced together, with paint working in and around them. I start intuitively, with no sketch and no plan, and let each bird show up with its own personality. Mixed media is wonderfully forgiving that way. You can layer, change direction, tear something off, and find the thing you didn’t know you were looking for.

Unruffled, blue heron mixed-media collage painting by Pamela Cisneros

Unruffled: a blue heron built from collage papers, standing perfectly still while the world swirls around him. We could all learn a thing or two from him!

Already There, hummingbird mixed-media collage painting by Pamela Cisneros

Already There: a brilliantly vibrant hummingbird hovering over flowers. If you’d love her on your wall she’s available as the original collage painting as well as an archival giclée print.

Night's Awakening, owl mixed-media collage painting by Pamela Cisneros

Night’s Awakening: an owl perched among autumn leaves on a deep blue, richly textured background. Up close she’s all paper edges and tiny surprises.

Fair warning: photos don’t do them justice. There’s so much texture and detail you really have to see in person.

Bring your ears too

My hubby, Christopher, will be playing his original guitar compositions from 3 to 4 PM during the reception. Art, music, refreshments, and a room full of local artists who love talking about what they make. That’s a pretty great Sunday afternoon!

Can’t make it to Fairview?

All three originals are available on my shop while they last, and you can get First Looks to see new work before anyone else. But if you can come on the 22nd, please do. Come find me and say hi.
