Hi! I’m Pamela
I paint the way I wish I’d lived sooner: without asking permission.
For most of my life I followed invisible rules. You know the ones: “people like me don’t do that,” “be practical,” “this is just how life is.” Painting is where I finally stopped listening.
I never start with a plan. I start with a color, a scrap of paper or a single mark, and I follow whatever wants to show up. Herons and hummingbirds, owls and cardinals, wild abstracts: they all arrive the same way, one intuitive layer at a time, in my studio in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville.
What I hope you feel living with one of my paintings is what I feel making it: a little more alive, a little more playful, a little more free.
